Artificial Intelligence is transforming education, offering powerful opportunities to improve learning, strengthen innovation and accelerate progress towards SDG 4. Yet its rapid evolution also brings significant risks and challenges, often moving faster than policy and regulatory frameworks can adapt.
UNESCO advocates a human-centred approach to AI in education — one that prioritizes inclusion, equity and the reduction of existing inequalities in access to knowledge, research and cultural expression. “AI for all” must ensure that every learner and every country can benefit from this technological revolution.
Within the Beijing Consensus framework, UNESCO has developed key resources to support policy-makers, teachers and students in navigating the opportunities and risks of AI. These include guidance for policy-makers and comprehensive AI competency frameworks for both educators and learners.
A wide set of materials is available, covering topics such as:
• AI competency frameworks for students and teachers
• Generative AI and the future of education
• Digital Learning Week 2025
• International Day of Education 2025
